CHERRY MADDOX MILLER GRAY

1945-2017

CINCINNATI-  Cherry Gray, beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully and comfortably in the Hospice of SW Ohio facility on Saturday at 11:10 PM with her loving sister at her side. Cherry was an intelligent, talented, caring and spiritual woman who after working many years in finance departments, including CFO, in the public sector developed her own business which she continued to manage until six months ago; she provided good service and made many lifelong friends.   She loved music and was an accomplished musician on the organ and vocally.  She used this talent in high school as she performed in musicals and also to serve her God in the churches she attended.  She was never idle, did many craft projects to make gifts for others, some being very large but always with special thought for the intended recipient.  She had a big heart as she went about each day with those she encountered always willing to lend a helping hand when possible.  One of her favorite experiences was a mission trip to Haiti where she gave and received a lot in return.  God was very important in her life whether she was expressing that or silent about it as in her later life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Gray (the love of her life);  her children, David Miller and Angela King; her brother who was one of the big spoilers of her, Glenn Maddox; her parents , Ernest and Jennie Maddox and her nephew, Scott.  She is survived by her sister, Janet; granddaughter, Chelsea King and grandson, TJ King; 5 nieces, and their many children and grandchildren; 5 stepchildren, 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.  She loved them all, each in her own special way. There will be a graveside service, arranged by Vorhis and Ryan Funeral Home in Springdale, open to family and friends on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 1:00pm at West Chester Cemetery, 6425 West Chester Rd., West Chester, OH 45069. In lieu of flowers Cherry has requested that donations be made to Gideon’s International, P.O. Box 104800, Nashville, TN or Hospice of SW Ohio 7625 Camargo Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45243.
