Matthew Shooner

d. May 21, 2015

Matthew J. Shooner, born January 22, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully with family at his side on the morning of May 21, 2015.
He is preceded in death by his father Robert and sister Cecelia. He is survived by his mother Beverly; wife Irene; sons Benjamin, Joseph, Andrew, Christopher, and Peter; grandchildren Levi, Audrey, Philip, and Sonya; siblings Robert, Michael, Gregory, Cindy, Theresa, Mary Jane, Mark, and Byron; and many extended family members and friends.
Matt's lifelong pursuit of wisdom, understanding, right judgement, courage, knowledge, reverence, and wonder and awe taught those around him the virtue of action over word, peace over strife, and love over hate.
Steadfastly generous, he freely gave of himself in every capacity - through his time, possession, and, of course, his "almost famous" chocolate chip cookies. His warm, welcoming spirit leaves behind a legacy of love.
To celebrate Matt's life, a Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, 17 Farragut Road, Greenhills, OH, with an hour of visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. Following a burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, a reception will be held at Matt and Irene's.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish to honor Matt's spirit of hospitality, contributions to his favorite charities would be welcomed:
