WATSON, Virginia (nee Shafer) of Rockford, IL for 3 years. Previous resident of Cincinnati. Passed away Monday, November 13, 2017.  She was born January  28, 1929 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Stanley & Edna (Vorbroker) Shafer.  Virginia married Thomas Watson on July 31, 1949. Virginia loved her family above all else; nothing gave her more joy than her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed church work and traveling. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; children Kimberlee (Richard) Young of Noblesville, IN, Beth (Dave) Hugdahl of Rockford, IL and Bruce (Mary) Watson of Belvidere, IL; grandchildren Ben, Maryn, Breah, Tessa, Molly & Brooke. Predeceased by her parents.

Ginny was a loving wife to Tom. They met at age 14, got married at 20, and have been inseparable ever since.  She adored her children, grandchildren, and now her great-grandchildren, and took great interest in their lives.  Her "hobby" was shopping for her family, not herself.  She made holidays special, and her happiest moments were when she was surrounded by her family. She set a good example for us all of what marriage and family is supposed to look like.  Those who knew Ginny will always remember her beautiful smile and hearty laugh.
Ginny had a heart to serve others.  If she heard of a need, she was ready to jump in and fill it.  She loved cooking and delivering meals to the sick.  She and Tom loved visiting shut-ins, which they did as recently as one week ago.  She had the gift of hospitality, inviting "lonely souls" to dinner.
Ginny loved the Lord and served Him throughout her life.  We are comforted to know she has entered into His presence with the words, "Well done, good & faithful servant."
