Avis P. Ratliff, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away on December 22, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio, just days short of her 93rd birthday. Born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1932, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
A devoted family woman, Avis is survived by her loving children, Paula (Gary) King, Nancy (Joel) George, and Raymond Ratliff. She took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Brandon George and Vanessa George, who filled her heart with joy. Avis was preceded in death by her loving husband, Afton Ratliff, and her parents, Henry and Fairy (nee Woods) Crabtree, whose memories she treasured throughout her life.
Avis had a broad range of interests, notably her passion for sewing, which she enjoyed as both a hobby and a practical skill. Her desire to give back was evident in her extensive volunteering at her church, where she nurtured her faith and community connections. Avis also had a deep affection for animals and was known to be a loving pet owner. In addition to her hobbies, she delighted in her extensive collection of dolls, which testified to her artistic eye and nurturing spirit.
Her legacy will be honored at Landmark Church, located at 1600 Glendale Milford Rd, Cincinnati, OH, where a visitation will take place on January 12, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 1:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating her remarkable life, reflecting on the warmth and positivity she shared with everyone around her.
Avis P. Ratliff will be deeply missed, but her spirit and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
