Barbara Jean Guckiean

Barbara Jean Guckiean, 86, of Fairfield, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

Born on March 14, 1940, in Phoenix, New York, Barbara built a life shaped by faith, family, and a deep and uncomplicated love for animals. For years, she owned and operated Tri-City Secretarial Service, bringing the same care and persistence to her work that she brought to everything else.

Hers was a devout Christian faith — steady and lived out rather than spoken about. It was the center she returned to in every season of her life, and it carried her home.

She never met an animal she didn't take to. Strays found their way to her, and none of them left hungry.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Josephine Guckiean; her son, David Guckiean, and his wife, Christine (née Dane); granddaughter Ruth Maus (née Schimpf-Guckiean) and husband Eric Maus; grandsons, Eric Guckiean and Evan Guckiean; granddaughter Elisabeth Guckiean; and by many cherished relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, 11200 Princeton Pk., Springdale, Ohio 45246, on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to a local humane society of the donor's choosing, in keeping with her lifelong love of animals.
