Barbara A. Marion

July 27, 1934 — May 28, 2023

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband James Marion, daughter Donna Marion Perkins, parents Jack and Celia Sacks, sisters Minnie, Marion, Phoebe, Lillian, and infant brother Alvin.   She will be deeply missed by her daughters and son in laws Jamie and Stanley Ruth and Celia and Bill Bose, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and many others.

She was a kind soul with an absolutely huge heart and a smile that was broad, beautiful and lit up the space around her.  Her strength far exceeded all expectations and often surprised the unsuspecting.  My mother taught us to never let others confuse our kindness for weakness, to stand on our own two feet, ask for help when needed, the door’s always open and that family is everything.   She taught us to cherish diversity, to learn from others and to never judge.

She was fiercely devoted to my father with a love that literally transcended heaven and earth.  She was an equally fierce mother “adopted” mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  With so many choosing to call her mom for their love of her.

The youngest sister of the five strongest women I think God ever made, she rose above the struggle that was her early life and found a love the rest of us can only pray for, built a family and an amazing life just shy of 89 years long.

She was a lifelong friend to many and her career at the City of Norwood’s Health Department gave her the opportunity to help others through her service on a daily basis.

Momma, you are free from Dementia now and embraced by so much love both here on earth and in heaven.   The greatest gift that Stan, Harmony, Serenity and I could have received was Daddy’s trust to care for you when he no longer could.  Your presence is so greatly missed here but we rejoice in your spirit.

Let us raise a glass to Barbara: Cheers Momma! We love you.

“Will you come with me out of the past and step into today?  Will you come with me into the future and help to find the way?  To leave my mark, for memory’s sake, for other souls to find?  To let them know the good I’ve done in the time I’ve left behind?  I want to know my life’s well spent when the sun dawns that last morn so come with me, together we’ll dance, ‘til life again reborn.”
