Brenda Wright

Wright, Brenda Joyce (nee Sparks). Loving mother of Rebecca Fletcher. Beloved wife of the late David Wright; devoted daughter of the late Hogan and Della Sparks and dear sister of the late Judy Lyons. Also survived by nephews John Lyons and Michael Lyons.

Brenda was born at Fort Jackson South Carolina where her father was based as an Army guard. German prisoners built Brenda’s first high chair and loved when she visited the base with her mother. After the war, the family moved back to Norwood Ohio where Brenda graduated from Norwood High School.

Brenda met her husband David while they were both working for Greyhound Bus Lines and they were married in 1968. They later welcomed their only child Rebecca in 1977. Brenda’s professional career as a administrative assistant spanned from such companies as Avon, Proctor & Gamble, Pillsbury, Hobart, and she completed her working career with Ethicon Endo Surgery where she looked forward to going to work each and every day. Brenda met several close friends during her career that continued to be a special part of her life.

Brenda enjoyed traveling with her family and her girlfriends (especially outlet shopping in Reading, Pennsylvania and Boaz, Alabama), playing the slots at the local casino, and was a huge fan of reality television. She especially enjoyed visits and spending time with her grand dog, Winston.

Brenda passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at age 81.

Friends may visit with the family at Vorhis & Ryan funeral Home, 11365 Springfield Pk., Springdale, OH 45246 on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 10AM until time of funeral service beginning at 11AM. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Rebecca is forever grateful to Brenda’s private caregivers lead by Ella, the Queen City Hospice team lead by Katie and Olivia, and all the continuous care nurses whose exceptional care, compassion, and guidance brought comfort, joy, and dignity to Brenda throughout her illness. Your support eased Brenda’s difficult days and allowed her to remain in her home surrounded by love.
