Donald R. Foulk, 94 years old of Cincinnati, Ohio went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2022 in Lancaster, Ohio.
Don was the beloved father of Benjamin (Cheryl) Foulk of Lancaster, John (Barbara) Foulk of Springdale, and Robin (Kim) Foulk of White Oak; loving grandfather of Azure (Joe) Koehler, Esther (Blake) Boulton, Rebecca (Sonny) Thomas, Robert (Annie) Foulk, Andrew ( Mindie ) Foulk, Mary Beth Foulk, Aaron (Danielle) Foulk, Kyle (Jennifer) Foulk, Shannon (Louie) Ratterman, and Christen Wiehe; great grandfather of 16. He was a favorite uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Don was born at home in Bristol, Virginia on July 26, 1928. He was the fourth of six children in the family of Hicks M. and Mary C. (Hicks) Foulk. His brothers and sisters were Catherine (Emerson) Sheffy, Fred (Pearl) Foulk, Carl (Coleen) Foulk, Dorothy (Don) Hills and Linda Sparks. He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings and their spouses except for Don Hills, and by his great grand daughter, Mary Thomas.
On September 4th, 1949, Don married the love of his life, Elaine V. Cloyd of Bristol, Tennessee. They cherished 64 years together until her passing on March 25, 2014.
Don was a graduate of Virginia High School. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of World War 2 and the Korean War serving for seven years. He worked as a mechanic at Dixie-Ohio Express in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was during his employment there that he moved his family to Cincinnati in 1965 to begin his career in management. He served in successive companies that included Great Lakes Motor Freight and Interstate Motor Freight. He continued to work until he was eighty at Worldwide Equipment and Tri-State Ford.
His most essential values were love of family, genuine faith in God and hard work. These values were cultivated in him and his siblings during the days of the Great Depression within his home and through King Memorial Presbyterian Church in Bristol, Va.
Don was a faithful follower of Christ all his life serving in the local church and community. He was a member for over 50 years at Forest Chapel UMC where he assisted in many hospitality ministries.
He was a member and officer of Springdale/Forest Park Lions Club seeing that children in the local school districts received their needed glasses in coordination with the school nurses.
Don delighted in the annual Foulk reunion in Tennessee where he renewed family ties. As a constant reader of books, he never stopped learning. He was a life long fan of baseball, especially the Cincinnati Reds.
Don was a kind, generous man who welcomed his neighbors, and kept his friends and family close till the end of his life.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Forest Chapel United Methodist Church, 680 W. Sharon Rd., Forest Park, OH 45240 led by the Rev. Dr. J. Kabamba Kiboko. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Forest Chapel United Methodist Church will be directed to a new children's ministry. https://www.forestchapel.org/ministries
