Gary Randall “Randy” Blanton, age 71, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Randy was born on July 28, 1954, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Boyd “Bud” Blanton and Christine (Cooper) Blanton. The fifth of six children, Randy grew up learning the value of hard work, perseverance, and caring for those around him—values that stayed with him throughout his life.
He is survived by his sister, Theressa Bergland. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Barbie, and his siblings: Buck Blanton, Butch Blanton, Larry Blanton, and Linda Farrar.
Randy spent much of his life working as a skilled mechanic, a trade that suited his natural ability to understand how things worked and his willingness to help others. Friends and family often relied on him for his knowledge, steady hands, and problem-solving skills.
In 1978, Randy met the love of his life, Barbara “Barbie.” Together they built a life centered around love and family while raising four daughters: Brandy Willis; Alain Blanton (Jennifer Bell); Emily Rosenberg; and Sally Wilson. Randy was a proud and devoted father who worked hard to provide for his family and support them through every stage of life.
Randy also had a deep appreciation for adventure and the outdoors. He loved skiing, sailing, and surfing the ocean, and cherished the freedom and peace he felt while spending time on the water or in the mountains. These passions reflected his spirited nature and his love for experiencing the beauty of the world around him.
His faith was an important part of his life. Randy was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he found strength, fellowship, and purpose in his beliefs.
Nothing brought Randy more joy than time spent with his grandchildren. He shared a special bond with each of them: Mia Willis; Bradley Blanton (Caityn Blanton); Andrew Blanton (Madison Blanton); Liam Rosenberg; Luke Rosenberg; Sydney Wilson; Paige Wilson; and Logan Wilson. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought even more happiness to his life: Serena Nelson, Isabella Blanton, Graham Blanton, Maxton Blanton, Morgan Blanton, Magnolia Blanton, and a baby girl Blanton expected soon.
Randy will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of family, his adventurous heart, and the kindness he showed to those around him. His presence, wisdom, and love will be deeply missed but forever carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Though he is gone from our sight, his love and example will remain with us always.
