Jerry Wayne Sears

SEARS, Jerry Wayne, raised in Lockland, Ohio, alongside much of his extended family on Arlington Avenue, and never grew up far from those who loved him. From a young age, Jerry loved to learn, a passion of his which never died, and he was always in close proximity to a book. Jerry graduated from Lockland High School, and decades later attended Farm College, motivated by the same love for the natural world which led him deep into the woods on hikes, or whenever possible, deep into caves or on a fishing trip.

In addition to being a loving husband and father who put his family before himself, Jerry was known throughout his life for many roles: as a machinist, a labor union representative, a security guard, a church deacon, an avid musician and music fan, and a firearms enthusiast. He enjoyed vacation with family, friends, and alone.

An evening with Jerry in his home never put you far from tidbits of wisdom, from his warmth, from his sense of humor, or from his love.

Jerry was an amazing man to have in your family, as a friend, or as a coworker. He will be greatly missed. 

Jerry passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026 at age 60.

Friends may visit with the family at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 310 Dunn St., Lockland, OH 45215 on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 11AM until funeral service beginning at 12Noon.

Burial to follow in Reading Cemetery.
