It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John F. Antrim who died on March 1,2024 at the age of 98. He died unexpectedly but peacefully in his home at Maple Knoll Village. Born October 31,1925; he is survived by his son, Michael Antrim; daughters, Mary (Rick) Johnson and Joni (Tim) Conway; his five grandchildren, Chelsea (Brian) Becker, Marissa (Tyler) Clayton, Rachel (Brent) Ritter, A.J. (Jessica) Conway, and Becca Antrim. He is also survived by his former daughter-in-law, Laura Antrim; and four great grandchildren, Andre Becker, Austyn Becker, Beckett Clayton, and Lincoln Clayton. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Antrim (nee Lesondak); long- time partner, Charlotte Martin; big brother, Bob (Lucile) Antrim; and parents, Robert and Ione Antrim.
John was born in Malden, Massachusetts but his family was always on the move. Most of his early years were spent in Chicago where he met the love of his life Mary. He became passionate about flying at a very young age. He continued that love of flying spending several years in the United States Army Air Force, spending a lifetime piloting small aircraft and gliders, and working and retiring as an Aeronautical Engineer at General Electric in Cincinnati. He was a lifetime member of the Ceasars Creek Soaring Club.
He was a very intelligent, caring, and funny man who will be greatly missed.
John’s love for his wife Mary, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends, family & passion for flying soared him to 98! Happy Landings!
Friends and family may be received on Monday, March 11, 2024 for visitation from 9:30-10:30AM at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 11365 Springfield Pike, Springdale OH 45246. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 17 Farragut Rd., Greenhills, OH 45218.
