COMMINS, Lester James, Jr. "Jim". Beloved husband of Mary Lou (nee George) Commins and the late Judith Ann Commins. Devoted father of Kevin, Kurry (Amy), and Kenyon (Monica) Commins. Loving grandfather of Joey, Kameron, Konnor, Koleman, Kolton, Kenley, and Kaylin. Also survived by stepsons, Rodney and Mark; and brother, Rick (Jane) Commins. Jim was preceded in death by his loving parents, Margaret (nee Hayes) and Lester J. Commins Sr.; brother, Walter Commins; and sister, Katherine Commins.
Jim was a 1963 graduate of Wyoming High School where he played football and baseball and was a vital member of the 1962 team, the only undefeated, unscored upon team in Cincinnati high school football history. He then attended Miami University and then Eastern Kentucky University. Jim began his professional career in sales spending considerable time with the Cincinnati Reds, Kings Island, USA Today, and The Cincinnati Business Courier. He concluded his career as a distribution warehouse manager for Kroger. He was an active member of the Mt. Healthy community where he volunteered for several organizations and coached football, baseball, soccer and basketball over three decades. Jim was also a member of Southwest Ohio Football Coaches Association and Ohio High School Football Coaches Association for over 15 years.
Jim passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025 at age 81.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Princeton Pike Church of God, 6101 Princeton Glendale Rd., Liberty Twp., OH 45011 (Door #2) on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 11am. Please join our family and friends as we honor Jim with a Celebration of Life following the Memorial Service at the American Legion Hall, 7949 Hamilton Ave. Mt. Healthy, Ohio 45231 from 1pm - 5pm.
