Margaret Ann Montgomery 3/25/1942 - 8/06/2020
Ann Montgomery completed her life's journey in hospice care after a long battle with cancer. She continually demonstrated a strong will to live and a conviction to "beat the odds" with her health issues.
Ann was born in Columbus, OH. She graduated from the Ohio State University School of Nursing in 1964. She worked for several years in Columbus as a psychiatric nurse before moving to Maryland. There she worked for both the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). It was at the latter that she received national recognition for her contribution to the development of LAAM, an orphan medication to relieve the agony of heroin dependence. She was published in the New England Journal of Medicine for the work she did as a clinical project manager and received a Masters Degree from Columbia University in New York.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marguerite Montgomery. She is survived by her brother John (LeAnne) Montgomery, her nephew Jason (Martha) Montgomery, her niece Emily (Keegan) Swanson, and her god children Brent Stansbury, Shelly Chandler, and Shannon Dillon.
Funeral services will be at Vorhis and Ryan Funeral Homes at noon on 8/11/2020, with burial the following day at Newark Memorial Gardens in Newark, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Free Store Food Pantry, 1141 Central Parkway, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
