It is with sorrowful hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret “Margie” Amy Lynn Naegele.
She was a devout Catholic who had a great devotion to St. Dymphna and to Our Lady of the Rosary and she was well fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Naegele, her father and mother, Stephen Hector and Alice Corbin, her beloved sisters, Patricia Patton and Barbara Desborough, and her great-granddaughter, Noelle Naegele.
She is survived by her two loving children, Donald (Janet) Naegele, and Amy (Randy) Bruner. She was the loving “Gram” of 20 grandchildren, Michael (Mary) Bruner, Nicholas Bruner, Timothy Bruner, Colette Bruner, Greg (Emily) Bruner, Gemma (Matt) Sherman, Anthony Bruner, Gabriel Bruner, Joseph Bruner, Daniel (Molly) Naegele, Stephen (Mary) Naegele, Laura (Michael) Mueller, Thomas (Hannah) Naegele, Christopher Naegele, Robert (Rita) Naegele, Mary (Aaron) Talley, Donald Naegele Jr., Matthew Naegele, James Naegele, and Peter Naegele.
She also leaves behind 33 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way, her loving niece, Donna Patton, and many other relatives and friends who will miss her forever.
Margaret was born at Jewish Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio on March 12, 1945. Her sisters, Barbara and Patricia, were twelve and ten when she was born, so she was almost like an only child. WWII ended as she was born and the family enjoyed prosperous times with Margie being “spoiled” by all the others in the family.
Margie began her school life at Old Saint Mary’s Church in Over the Rhine, where she made her First Communion and Confirmation. She attended Mother of Mercy High School for several years where she was known to friends as “Lynn,” a name she felt was much better than her old-fashioned name. Before graduation, she met and married her husband, William Naegele. They were united in marriage in the summer of 1963 at Holy Family Parish in Price Hill.
A year later, the couple welcomed their first child, Donald William, and later their second child, Amy Lynn. Margaret helped supplement the family income at times by working seasonal Christmas jobs at Kenner Toys in Cincinnati, and later at a small drugstore and pharmacy in Northbrook near her home.
Margie can be remembered for numerous things, but it may be her generosity of heart, for which she will be remembered most of all. She lived for her beloved grandchildren and did everything in her power to make them happy. They will never forget their “Christmas’s at Gram’s” where she showered them with love and gifts. She loved making crafts with her grandchildren, and she was a skilled master with a glue gun. She found joy in the simple, meaningful things—caring for animals, especially her beloved cats, gardening and growing flowers, especially blue flowers, and she was always savoring a hot cup of tea. Margie loved her tea! Margie’s legacy will live on in our memories and in the simple things in life that she taught us to appreciate. She will be missed forever by all those who knew her.
