Rita Mary Thomas

Rita Mary Thomas, born November 27, 1931, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026.

Rita lived a long, beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, and a proud dog mom whose gentle care extended to every animal she met. Known throughout her community, Rita welcomed others with warmth and shared countless hours of joy over card games and puzzles—two of her favorite pastimes.

Those who knew Rita remember her for her kind and giving heart, her sharp humor, and her unmistakable quick wit. She was feisty, funny, thoughtful, and wonderfully direct. Rita had a way of making people feel seen and valued, and her presence brought comfort and delight to family, friends, and neighbors alike. Her absence leaves a space that can only be filled with the memories she created and the love she gave so freely.

Rita is survived by her son, Steven Metzger; her granddaughters Dani (Matthew) Suddleson and Tina (Richard) Antle; and her great‑grandchildren Zachery Dier and Keira Antle.

A celebration of Rita’s life will be held Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Springdale Recreational Facility, 11999 Lawnview Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to your favorite animal shelter in honor of Rita’s lifelong love of rescuing animals.
