Sue Ann Ulrich (née Nienaber), 78, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026.

Born on February 27, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Sue was the daughter of the late Paul and Marian Nienaber. She was the middle sister to the late Ron Nienaber and Kathy Bauman. She grew up in Cincinnati, where she built a life around faith, family, and the quiet strength that holds everyone else together.

It was in Cincinnati that she met the love of her life, John Charles Ulrich. They married and made their first home on Cardiff Avenue in a full, lively house where Sue watched over John's five children, Tim, John, Jeff, Tony, and Cheryl, raising them with the same warmth she carried effortlessly. She loved them as her own, and they knew it.

When John's mother was left alone after her husband passed, Sue and John moved from Cincinnati to Kentucky to be by her side showcasing the devotion that defined Sue's whole life. Kentucky became home, where Sue and John welcomed their son, Patrick Ulrich, and built their family's life together.

Sue found her place in her new community at Bond Baptist Church, and for years it was the center of her life. She served, attended, and showed up and when John passed, her Bond Baptist church family carried her through her grief, surrounding her with the same warmth she had always given others. Through those years her faith remained the quiet constant it had always been, alongside friendships she carried with her always.

After many years in Kentucky, Sue returned home to Cincinnati to be with her brother and sister—a homecoming that showed where her heart lived. There she found her church home at New Bethel Baptist Church in Norwood. For the past twenty years she was a faithful and cherished member, and there was never a Sunday, nor any day a service was held, when she wouldn't rather be in a pew. She loved her church family, her hymns, and the quiet certainty of being exactly where she belonged. Her faith was the constant thread of her life.

Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Charles Ulrich; her brother, Ron Nienaber; her stepson, Tim Ulrich; her stepdaughter, Cheryl Klatt; and her parents, Paul and Marian Nienaber.

She is survived by her devoted son, Patrick Ulrich, and his wife Kati Ulrich; her sister, Kathleen Bauman; her sister-in-law, Sister Frances Ulrich; three stepchildren she cherished as her own: Jeff Ulrich, John Ulrich, and Tony Ulrich; along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins whose lives she touched in ways large and small.
