Violet Elizabeth Sears

SEARS, Violet E. (nee Thackrey). Beloved wife of Jerry Sears. Devoted mother of Vincent Sears. Dear sister of the late Lynda Marie Lingg. Loving aunt to Laura and Jacob. Cherished daughter of Charles E. and the late Dorothy Mae (nee Urban) Thackrey.

Violet was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Finneytown, Ohio. She grew up in the small town of College Corner, Indiana; an active member of her childhood church who loved Jesus and God‘s people throughout her life. She was a devoted wife and mother, blessed by an abundance of family and friends. Violet graduated from Union County High School, Marian College, and later from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, where she earned her MDiv despite challenges that included distance from her home in Cincinnati.

Violet‘s professions included; French tutor, art supplies retailer, customer service manager, bank teller, substitute teacher, and church administrator. She volunteered at a community farm, and managing her campus food pantry.

Interests ranged from gardening and flowers, art, drama, singing, music, and dancing; to canning and baking. Violet especially loved travel, having visited all lower 48 states in her youth, and later enjoying many vacations with her husband and son.

Violet was a sweet and joyous gift who will be greatly missed

Violet passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023 at the age of 53 years.

Friends may visit with the family at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 310 Dunn St., Lockland, OH 45215 on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 11am until Memorial Service at 12noon.

Burial in Reading Cemetery.
