NICELY, Walter Harold. Harold was born on September 25, 1941 to the late Russell Willard Nicely and the late Beulah Mae (nee McKinney) Nicely in Ft. Knox, Kentucky. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Earls) Nicely. Devoted father of Kathy (nee Nicely) Hall and the late Darrin Nicely. Loving grandfather of Bethany (David) Putnam and Ryan (Lauren Holt) Hall; Jade & Keltyn Nicely and their mother, Lynne Johnson. Great grandfather of Aubree and Lacey Putnam. Dear brother of Ruby (Jim) Toms.
When Harold was a young boy, he and his family moved to Cincinnati. He went on to graduate from Lockland High School in 1960. Shortly after graduation, he met the love of his life, Barbara. The two were married on St. Patrick’s Day in 1962, beginning a beautiful journey together that spanned over 64 years. A master carpenter for over 40 years, his craftsmanship was unmatched. Anyone who ever worked or learned alongside him will forever hear his voice reminding them to "measure twice, cut once,” a testament to the care, discipline, and intentionality he poured into both his trade and his life.
Beyond his craft, Harold was a devoted and active member of Landmark Baptist Temple. Yet above all his achievements, he was first and foremost a faithful Christian. He lived his life with a loving desire to share the Gospel, seizing every opportunity to ensure others knew the Lord. Even in his final days, his heart remained focused on eternity, wondering aloud if he had done enough to spread God’s word. His family takes great comfort in knowing he has now heard the words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant,” when he arrived into Heaven on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at age 84.
Visitation will be held at Landmark Church, 1600 Glendale Milford Rd., Evendale, OH 45215 on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 from 10AM until time of funeral service beginning at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Landmark Memorial Gardens.
