William "Bill" S. Fields, Jr., a devoted public servant, loving family man, and cherished friend, passed away on March 14, 2026, in Hamilton, Ohio. Born on February 14, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bill's life was marked by service, dedication, and a vibrant personality that touched many.

Bill proudly answered the call of duty as a United States Army Veteran before embarking on a distinguished law enforcement career. In 1980, he began his journey with the Springdale Police Department, where he would devote 30 years of honor and commitment. Rising through the ranks from police officer to Administrative Lieutenant, his leadership was recognized with numerous awards. Among these were the prestigious Donald Stemann Employee of The Year Award in 1996, the Dependability Award in 2003, and an accolade for the "Most Constructed Plan for Police Operations" that same year. His crowning achievement was graduating from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, in 2002—a highlight he cherished deeply.

Bill's love for his profession was evident in every aspect of his life; he took immense pride in serving the community of Springdale, Ohio. Colleagues and friends will remember his big personality, a presence that could fill any room and bring warmth to those around him.

Beyond his career, Bill was a man of many passions and hobbies. He found joy at his beloved log cabin on Lake Waynoka in Sardinia, Ohio, where he delighted in driving his golf cart and pontoon boat. Fishing was a particular favorite pastime, along with visits to casinos and thrilling cruises. He was a fervent fan of football and Nascar, always eager to share his enthusiasm. Known as a fantastic and passionate cook, Bill's culinary skills were admired by all who had the pleasure of tasting his creations. His love of animals and horseback riding spoke to his gentle spirit, and his youthful joy was evident in his lifelong pastime of flying remote control planes, cars, and boats—a hobby he nurtured from his teenage years. Music of various kinds also filled his life with happiness.

Bill leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his memory: his beloved wife, Theresa (née Stepp) Fields; his sisters, Corda Ann (John Jr.) Yungbluth and Bennie Steiner; and nieces Chandra Yungbluth, Mary Burton, Tracy Carpenter, Youvona Clemens, and Stephanie Bartley, along with nephew John Yungbluth III. He also dearly respected his mother-in-law, Marcella Stepp. Though his son, William S. Fields III, and his parents, William S. Fields, Sr., and Ona (née Youngblood) Fields, have preceded him in death, their legacy lives on through Bill’s cherished memories and the stories shared by those who loved him.
