James Marion

d. January 10, 2022

James Madison Marion Jr. 89 of Glencoe, Kentucky, died after an illness on January 10, 2022.   Jim was a beloved and devoted husband, amazing father and blessed grandfather and great grandfather and an irreplaceable friend to many.  He is survived by his wife Barbara, his daughters Jamie Marion Ruth (Stan), Celia Marion Bose (Bill), 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, his brothers Bill Marion (MaryJo) and Doug Marion (Shirley).

Preceded in death by his parents Matt and Flo Marion, his daughter Donna Marion Perkins and sisters Billie Louise Marion, Betty Marion Whiteaker, Ann Marion Mullins.

Jim had a tough exterior but an incredibly big heart and a soft spot he giggled at when forced to admit it.  Known for his Kentucky Wildcats shirts and blue jeans adorned with his trademark suspenders and hardy, often mischievous laugh.

He was the last remaining WAKY Radio engineer that spun “The Purple People Eater Meets the Witch Doctor” continuously for days in the late 50’s stunt that remains a WAKY and Louisville legend today!

A Veteran of the Korean War, my father was as big a gift to his country as he felt his country was to him.  He was a member of the American Legion, Norwood Ohio Post and a supporter of Veteran charities.

Let us raise a glass to him. “Daddy, we will be forever grateful to have had you with us for 89 blessed years.  Thank you for your love,  guidance, protection and laughter.  You taught us all what love should be as we watched you and Momma, for over 65 years, love each other with no limits.  A love that will, no doubt, transcend Heaven and Earth.  You will be forever missed for countless lifetimes. This world will never be the same.  I love you.  Cheers!”

“Yesterday - The day that passed just hours ago that you can never relive again.  Yesteryears - What memories are made of, but just like yesterday, can not be lived again.  Live your life in a way that you fondly look back on yesterday and yesteryears.”  Jamie Marion Ruth January 11, 2013.
