Novella Ford

Novella Ford née Collins, wife of the late John Ford, finished her earthly journey on May 11, 2021, and entered her heavenly home.Novella leaves behind daughters, Melinda (Max) Soliz and Carolyn (Terry) Atwood Ayers. Grandchildren, Jonathan (Natalie) Atwood, Nathan (Erica) Atwood, Matthew Atwood, and Brooke Soliz. Great grandchildren, Makenzie, Carter, Toby, Paisley, Jacobi and Malachi. Siblings, Louella (Harold) Reed, Chester Collins and Carla Collins. many nieces, nephews, family and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, Maggie and Loyd Collins, Husband John Ford, Son in law Larry Atwood, brothers Raymond and Billy Collins along with many others.

Novella was born on May 20, 1935 in Coeburn, Virginia. John and Novella moved to Norwood, Ohio as a young couple, to better their lives. They raised their daughters in Norwood, Ohio, and have lived here ever since. She retired from her career job in the late 1990’s, to take care of her husband who had become very ill. After he passed in January 2001, she became so lonely her family encouraged her to get a little part time job in Norwood High School’s cafeteria. Her co workers at the high school became a whole new family for her. The kids at the high school, and her co workers, became very important to her, and that job really kept her active and alive. Her family encouraged her to retire last year when the pandemic began. She had worked there for over 18 years!

She was an active member of the Cameron Avenue Church of God, where she was the church grandma (granny) to all. She will be greatly missed by all of us! To know her is to love her. She fought the fight, and finished the race....Now she rests in the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Friends may greet the family at Cameron Avenue Church of God, 2156 Cameron Avenue, Norwood, OH 45212 on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 10am until time of service at 1pm.  Burial will be Monday, May 24th. We will meet at Graceland Memorial at 10am.
