Rory Falato

July 20, 1955 — September 14, 2021

Glendale

Rory Patrick Falato, 66, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Rory is survived by his wife of 43 years Becky, and three children Colin (Melanie) Falato, Courtney Falato, and Cailin (Michael) Falato. Rory was the proud grandfather of five, Rory and Vivienne Heppner, Connor, Charlotte and Caroline Falato and proud “DogFather” of Gracie, Emma Lou, Hershey, and Caldera.

Rory was born July 20, 1955 to Carmel and Jack Falato. Growing up in New Jersey, Rory early on discovered a love for music (Storm Crow) and a deep appreciation for Italian food. Rory graduated from the University of Dayton in 1977 with a Bachelors of Art in Marketing and Communication. He married the love of his life, Becky, in 1978, started their family, and moved to Blacksburg, Virginia where they raised their children and began a lifelong network of friends that quickly became family. In 2000, Rory and Becky transplanted to Cincinnati, Ohio, and spent the next 20 years celebrating graduations, weddings, the births of their grandchildren, and numerous other big life events that shaped him into a man that was both blessed and loved.

For all who knew Rory, they knew his love clustered in threes - art, food and family. He was a renaissance man. He created dozens of paintings, stacks of pottery, and built guitars and other odds and ends to the joy of the people he loved the most. His favorite place was the kitchen. He had a knack for turning leftovers into a five star, four course meal. He could flawlessly recreate a dish at a restaurant and was well known for sending his kids off from a holiday weekend with a stack of fresh eggplant Parmesan sandwiches. But it was at the annual Falato Family Beach Week in Emerald Isle, North Carolina where his three loves truly came together. He was always in charge of the first meal of the week - a big pot of seafood pasta along with an ocean sunset and the people he loved most. His deep belly laugh could be heard all week, splashing in the ocean, creating sand sculptures with his kids and grandkids, supervising meal making, and playing guitars with his Bean Brothers.

Rory had a life well lived. His legacy will continue to live on in every camping trip, pot of sauce, jam session, and beach sunset. The family is holding a celebration of life on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at St. John’s Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio. Guests may greet the family from 10am until time of service at 11am.
