Tony Alsip

May 1, 1961 — July 7, 2021

Tony Eugene Alsip, 60, beloved son, father, grandfather, United States Navy veteran, friend, resident of Norwood, OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 15 at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 5501 Montgomery Road, Norwood, OH 45212. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH, where military honors will be conducted.

Tony was born May 1, 1961, in Cincinnati, OH to Raymond and Durlie Alsip. He graduated from Norwood High School in 1979 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, honored to serve his country. Tony was employed as a boilermaker and was very proud of his trade. He was hard at work throughout his whole life and only retired this year. Although retired, Tony still did what he could to help others with various projects. He was a jack of all trades, an avid fan of the Bengals (supporting them no matter what, despite their losses), and, in his spare time, enjoyed fishing by the lake.

Tony loved his family and had his special way of showing it; you didn’t have to hear him say anything to understand how he truly felt. A perfect day was spent having a drink with his siblings, chatting it up with his children, playing with his grandkids, and, of course, working.

Those left to honor his memory include his father, Raymond E. Alsip and his wife Mary of Norwood, OH; three daughters, Tamara Kruger of Little Rock, IA, Melissa Blackburn and her husband Jordan of Grapevine, TX, Destiny Day and her husband Alex of Hamilton, OH; two sons, Anton Alsip of Little Rock, IA, Raymond I. Alsip of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Pat Kestler and her husband Mike of West Chester, OH, Becky Minton of Norwood, OH; two brothers, Tim Alsip of Norwood, OH, and Brian Alsip and his wife Erica of Franklin, IN; step sister, Angela Huffman and her husband James of Reading, OH; seven grandchildren,; and many other family members, and loved ones.

Tony was preceded in death by his beloved Mother, Durlie Alsip.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center’s staff that ensured Tony’s comfort during his brief stay, to anyone that showed him kindness and loved him throughout his life, and a very heartfelt thank you to all who generously donated so that Tony could be laid to rest.

“Say not in grief he is no more but in thankfulness that he was.” -Proverb
